About Dr Richard Hubner

Personal Profile

Dr Hubner undertook pre-clinical medical studies at Cambridge University, gaining a triple 1st class degree and clinical medical studies at Oxford University. He completed general medical training at The University Hospitals of Newcastle, including gaining membership of The Royal College of Physicians. Dr Hubner subsequently spent 8 years at The Royal Marsden Hospital, London undertaking specialist medical oncology training.

As part of this specialist training, he completed a PhD in Genetic Susceptibility to Cancer. He has been a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Christie Hospital, Manchester since October 2010.

He has a strong focus on research and is involved in a portfolio of clinical trials, in both early and advanced cancer settings.

Dr Hubner is particularly interested in identification of factors which predict for efficacy and toxicity of chemotherapy and other systemic therapies, with the ultimate goal of personalised anti-cancer treatment. He has published over 30 original research articles, review articles, book chapters and meeting abstracts.
