Personal Profile

Dr Rashmi Srivastava graduated with merits from Armed Forces Medical College in 1991. Following a stint as a short commissioned medical officer in the Indian navy she did her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Mumbai University in 2000. Her experience with women and family while serving as a medical officer fuelled the desire for her to specialise in women’s health as a chosen life career path. 

Post commission she worked in the independent sector in Pune, India going on to establish the first “Well Woman Clinic” which focussed on preventative promotive and holistic health of women through their life course in the year 2000. On relocating to UK for advanced training in the year 2004 she worked initially as a clinical research fellow at Croydon University Hospital (London) in the field of urogynaecology, pelvic floor and psychosexual medicine. Here she researched the impact of surgery (hysterectomy) and childbirth on pelvic organ function contributing to many publications in international O&G journals.

From 2008 onwards, Dr Rashmi Srivastava did her O&G training in the UK in various teaching hospitals in Northern Ireland and in the North of Scotland. For over a decade she honed skills in Benign gynaecology with Minimal access (key-hole) surgery, Lower genital tract, Vulva and Cervical screening with Colposcopy. She is affiliated with the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is member of the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSSCP), British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease (BSSVD), as well as the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD) and the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine.   

From 2016 onwards Dr Rashmi Srivastava has been working as a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is presently based at Raigmore Hospital under NHS Highland. She is totally committed to delivery of quality holistic care to the women population of Highlands To help enrich and empower the women’s health landscape in addition to her clinical duties she took on the clinical leadership role as the Clinical Director of the women and child’s directorate when it was first commissioned in 2021. Here she continues to offer specialised lower genital tract and gynaecology skin clinics with pelvic floor surgery for genital organ prolapse and laparoscopy for benign gynaecology conditions. 

As a gynaecologist with over two decades experience in the field of Women’s Health, Dr Rashmi Srivastava understands the need of prioritising women’s wellbeing and health in a way which is both curative and restorative. She is now keen to bring both her clinical and leadership skills to a wider domain overarching NHS and the private sector to enable seamless and enhanced working. 

One-stop Colposcopy Service

Dr Srivastava offers a one-stop Colposcopy service at Albyn Hospital. The service is designed to support timely assessment and management of patients with abnormal cervical screening results or concerning symptoms. Where appropriate, patients can benefit from an initial consultation and the colposcopy in a single visit, helping to reduce anxiety, minimise delays and improve overall patient experience.

Dr Srivastava requires a GP referral for patients requiring a colposcopy.
