About Ramu Muniraju
Personal Profile
Mr Ramu Muniraju is a consultant ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He also provides treatment for retinal vascular diseases, ocular inflammatory diseases and uveitis, performs other minor eye operations and provides the full range of general ophthalmology services. Mr Muniraju has been practising general ophthalmology for more than 20 years. He underwent his fellowship training at Kings College Hospital and at the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Currently, he is a substantive consultant ophthalmologist at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust with special interest in cataract surgery and Medical retina. He is clinical lead for the diabetic eye screening programme in Surrey.
He has a passion to teach and train junior doctors, and is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists final fellowship exams. He regularly participates in assessing specialist trainees in ophthalmology. Mr Muniraju has published research in a number of peer-reviewed journals in the fields of diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration, he has presented papers on retinal diseases at a number of international conferences. Away from the clinic, he enjoys travel, music and swimming.
