About Dr Rajesh Gabani

Personal Profile

Dr Gabani is a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist with extensive training in all aspects of paediatrics with special interest in paediatric cardiology and medical problems in infants. He also has a keen interest in both undergraduate and post graduate medical education. He has extensively trained in India and the UK. He has been in clinical paediatric practise here in the UK as a consultant for last 10 years.

He developed a peer-reviewed paediatric cardiology screening service in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, South London. Dr Gabani is an educator, assessor, supervisor and guide to trainees and provides hands-on training in congenital heart disease Echocardiography.

Dr Gabani is available to look after all aspects of your child's physical health, acute or ongoing, including well baby checks. Dr Gabani did his MD in Paediatrics (post graduate training) from Calcutta (1999-2002); India and wrote his dissertation on chronic liver disease in children 0-12 yrs as part of his extensive 3-year training in all aspects of general paediatrics.

Dr Gabani underwent further training in the UK wherein he trained in Paediatrics and developed special interest in cardiology, neonatology and infant related medical problems. Another area of interest that he developed was medical education. He completed a post graduate certification in work based medical education from University of Manchester in 2008-09.

Dr Gabani has contributed to training of future Paediatricians as an educator, assessor for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, MRCPCH examiner, START (Specialty Trainee Assessment of Readiness for Tenure) assessor run by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and hands-on trainer in paediatric echocardiography. He is also a faculty for ECG training for the PECSIG group supporting training and education of paediatricians of the future.

Clinical Interests: Dr Gabani is certified from the European Society of Cardiology (ECS) in congenital heart disease echocardiography, the gold standard of training for paediatricians practising paediatric cardiology.

Besides cardiology, Dr Gabani has a broad interest in all aspects of medical problems during infancy including reflux, infantile colic, cows milk allergy and common childhood conditions including respiratory problems (wheezing, asthma etc), gastrointestinal issues (abdominal pain, faltering growth, constipation, diarrhoea etc), kidney problems (urinary tract infection, renal pelviectasis etc) and common skin related condition during infancy and childhood. He has particular interest in Down’s Syndrome.

Professional Memberships: Dr Gabani is fellow of Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health (FRCPCH) supporting the college with exams and assessments and an active member of Paediatricians with Expertise in Cardiology Special interest group (PECSIG). He is also member and trainer for Resuscitation council UK. He is a life member of Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP).
