Mr Raj Reddy

After gaining his medical degree in India, Mr Raj Reddy did his London Conjoint LRCP: MRCS in 1987. Having done the basic surgical training he successfully obtained the fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in 1992. During his training in Orthopaedics he obtained Mastership in Trauma from University of Birmingham in 1995.

In 1996 he obtained a diploma in Sports Medicine from the Scottish Royal Colleges Board in Sports Medicine. Mr Reddy joined the Birmingham Trauma and Orthopaedic Specialist Registrar training programme and obtained the Fellowship in Orthopaedics and Trauma in 2001.

During his training Mr Reddy developed special interest in knees, hips and sports injuries. (Joint replacement surgery, primary and revision, arthroscopic surgery).

In the last 3 years, Mr Reddy has performed 510 knee replacements and 363 hip replacements, compared to a national average of 146 and 135 respectively (source: National Joint Registry).

Mr Reddy has also been appointed as a NHS Consultant at George Eliot Hospital since 2001. He is involved in the teaching (medical students, junior doctors, nurses and physiotherapists) and audits in the department. He has been appointed as the Honorary Associate Professor in Orthopaedics, University of Warwick and is MSK lead at George Eliot Hospital for Medical student teaching.

Mr Reddy has participated at regular patient awareness meetings at both the George Eliot Hospital and The Meriden Hospital. He also conducts CPD training sessions for GP's.

Mr Reddy is a cricket fan and ex-player. He enjoys long walks, cycling and gardening. He also enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.
