Dr. Ashok is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist who has been working with NHS Grampian and Albyn Hospital for over 20 years. She currently chairs the gynaecology redesign group for the new Women’s Hospital in NHS Grampian.
Dr Ashok graduated from Kilpauk Medical College, University of Madras (Chennai, India) in 1987. She completed further medical training in India and Sri Lanka, gaining her licence to practise in Sri Lanka before moving to the UK in 1991.She undertook postgraduate training in the West Midlands and Aberdeen, and in 1997 joined the Aberdeen Fertility Centre as a Clinical Research Fellow. During this time, she completed a higher research degree and was awarded an MD with commendation from the University of Aberdeen.
After completing her specialist training, Dr Ashok sub-specialised in reproductive medicine and surgery, becoming a Consultant with NHS Grampian in 2003. She has worked at Albyn Hospital since 2004, alongside her NHS role.
Dr. Ashok is known for her compassionate, patient-centred approach. She understands that gynaecological and reproductive health concerns can be sensitive and deeply personal.
Her priority is to provide holistic, supportive care, ensuring every patient feels listened to, respected, and fully informed throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Ashok is a passionate about teaching and has plays a key role in surgical training. She previously served as a preceptor in Aberdeen for special interest training modules in benign and emergency gynaecological surgery, offered by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG).
She is currently the Deputy Trainer for the Reproductive Medicine sub-specialty in Aberdeen—one of only two RCOG-accredited centres in Scotland.
Dr Ashok also holds Honorary Senior Lecturer Status with the University of Aberdeen. Her Research portfolio includes over 40 publications in indexed journals. Dr. Ashok is a also a member of the British Fertility Society.
