About Mr Prasad Antapur

Personal Profile

Mr Antapur started as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in August 2011.

Following his Registrar training in the Wessex region, he undertook advanced fellowships in Toronto, Canada, Birmingham, USA and Southampton. Mr Antapur offers the latest technology in joint replacements, including minimally invasive hip and knee surgery. He routinely carries out a number of day case arthroscopic ACL reconstructions and total joint replacements using the latest techniques, and constantly looks forward to improving his results.

He is passionate about enhanced rehabilitation following joint replacements, and uses the latest techniques of post-operative pain relief that allows his patients to mobilise on the same day following surgery. He has been interviewed by NHS England to identify best practices.

Mr Antapur can offer minimally invasive superpath hip replacements as a day case or overnight stay in hospital. The benefits of this technique include a smaller incision size together with minimal disruption to the hip capsule and surrounding soft tissues. This results in a rapid recovery from surgery and a quicker return to normal activity for the majority of patients.

He is of very few surgeons in the region carrying out partial knee replacements. This allows patients to retain their unaffected parts of the knee.

In recognition of Mr Antapur’s experience, The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh awarded him FRCS Ed Hon.
