Dr Petr Ruzicka is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist at Trafford General Hospital, which is part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He also runs a weekly private clinic at The Alexandra Hospital, where there is no waiting time for appointments. Dr Ruzicka is known for his professional, friendly and approachable manner, and patients can expect to receive clinic letters within 24 hours of their consultation.
He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in the Czech Republic in 1997 and subsequently received post-graduate certification in General Medicine (equivalent to MRCP) in 2000, followed by accreditation in Cardiology (cum laude), equivalent to CCST, in 2004. He completed his PhD in 2005 for his work on transcatheter treatment of secundum atrial septal defect.
Dr Ruzicka is proficient in all aspects of general cardiology, including echocardiography (TTE and TOE), cardiac catheterization, and pacemaker implantation. He has received 5 Clinical Excellence awards and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London in 2011. He obtained European Accreditation in Pacing and ICDs in 2014 and specialises in cardiac CT, which is the first-line test for patients with chest pain.
After the creation of Manchester University Foundation Trust, Dr Ruzicka provided specialist input for Trafford inpatients and currently runs and supervises cardiology, pacemaker, and rapid access chest pain clinics at Trafford and Altrincham Hospitals. He has a weekly list for CT coronary angiography at Wythenshawe Hospital and participates in Consultant of the Week cover at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
His expertise in general cardiology extends to managing a wide range of symptoms and conditions, including chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, blackouts, angina, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, valve disease, screening, and prevention.
