Training and Appointment
Mr Ward studied medicine at Bristol University before going on to complete a Masters Degree at Oxford in limb development.
In 2000, Mr Ward spent a year in Adelaide, South Australia as a senior lecturer and Arthroplasty Fellow, specialising in hip surgery. Upon his return to the UK in 2001, Mr Ward was then appointed as a consultant in trauma and orthopaedics at Dorset County Hospital. It is during this time that he developed a revision and resurfacing service in Dorchester and became the lead hip revision consultant surgeon allowing complex hip revision work to be completed in West Dorset.
Current Practice
Mr Ward’s private practice, The Dorset Hip Clinic, is based at The Winterbourne Hospital where he assesses patients with hip conditions and knee problems. His patients typically present with hip pain or knee pain and he will provide assessment and diagnosis along with personalised treatments plans tailored to the needs of each individual patient.
Whilst continuing to work as an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon the majority of his elective work is focused on the lower limb, in particular surgery of the hip and knee.
Hip problems in the young adult, hip resurfacing monitoring and revision, treatment of hip arthritis, hip replacement surgery and hip revision surgery are his major interests.
Orthopaedic patients are accepted from all private insurance companies and Mr Ward also treats a number of patients who choose to pay for treatment themselves. Patient who self pay are able to book an appointment for an orthopaedic consultation without a GP referral letter.
