Mr Pawel Trapszo has been practicing as a surgeon since 1995. In 2009, he turned his career to exclusively Breast Surgery. He provides a high standard, comprehensive and safe care to patients with a wide range of breast conditions and problems. Mr Trapszo graduated in 1992 from Wroclaw Medical University in Poland and underwent full surgical training up to a specialist surgeon (Consultant level), which he completed in 2001.
Gathering international experience, Mr Trapszo spent 18 months, working as a general surgeon in Germany and he subsequently returned to Poland, to continue his general surgical career.
Mr Trapszo has worked in the UK since 2004. Initially as an Associate Specialist in General Surgery at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford. In 2009 he moved to the Royal Marsden Hospital, as a Speciality Doctor in Breast Surgery. In 2008, he was actively involved in implementation of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy technique at Darent Valley Hospital. During his time at the Royal Marsden Hospital, he participated in large POETIC Trial and in implementation of Open Access Follow Up for breast cancer patients.
In 2012, Mr Trapszo was offered a position as Deputy of the Head of a Specialist Breast Cancer Centre in Germany, with the task of expanding breast surgery, obtaining a certification of the centre from German Cancer Association and implementing more sophisticated oncoplastic service, which he successfully did and spent four years.
Mr Trapszo returned to the UK in 2016 as a Consultant Breast Surgeon at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford, where he works currently (in the NHS). The Empress Breast Unit offers comprehensive high quality care to patients with wide range of new techniques and Oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery.
Mr Trapszo has experience and expertise in the management of a wide range of breast disease, both malignant (cancerous) and benign (non-cancerous). He offers consultations in a One Stop Clinic format, which includes triple assessment (clinical examination, breast imaging and biopsy, as needed). He is supported by an excellent, experienced and highly professional team of Breast Radiologists, Pathologists and Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists.
He also offers a wide range of breast operations in both malignant and benign conditions, which include oncoplastic techniques. Oncoplastic operations, through adopting plastic surgery techniques, in breast cancer patients, expand the borders of breast conserving surgery (lumpectomy), whilst maintaining good cosmetic results.
Mr Trapszo also offers breast reconstructions using the latest techniques of implant-based reconstruction with of acellular dermal matrix (ADM), as well as lipofilling and nipple-areola-complex (NAC) reconstruction. Mr Pawel Trapszo participates in various research activities and service improvement projects
