Miss Whitehouse qualified from St George's Hospital Medical School, London in 1996. Her training was completed in the South of England with entry onto the Specialist Register for General Surgery in 2010.
Since 2011 she has been a General and Colorectal Surgeon at Worthing Hospital ( University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust ) with a special interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, particularly for patients with colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.
Miss Whitehouse has a special interest in the prevention and management of surgical site infections, on which she has lectured Nationally and Internationally. She is an expert advisor for a NICE Medtech Innovation Briefing on the use of negative pressure to prevent wound infections.
Despite the limited surgical options for pelvic floor problems (faecal incontinence), this along with functional bowel disease (IBS), is also a special interest. Miss Whitehouse also offers lifestyle advice relating to these conditions.
