About Mr Paul Bachoo

Personal Profile

In 2001, Mr Paul Bachoo completed training in Vascular Surgery wich included linkage to other centres  across England (Newcastle / London), Europe (University Medical Centre Groningen Netherlands & Orebro Hospital Sweden) and North America (Massachusetts General Boston). He was subsequently appointed Consultant Vascular Surgeon in Aberdeen.

Over the years, he has: 

  • Develop and establish Endovascular Aneurysm Repair service for Abdominal / Thoraciac and Complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (EVAR – TRVAR-FEVAR). As a consequence we were contributors to a number of national and international clinical trials
  • Establish ARI as the first Scottish centre offering Endovenous treatments for varicose veins. Thru workshops and the vascular community this technique was subsequently rolled out across all Scottish Vascular centres. Aberdeen was later to be the Principle site for a Multicentre UK HTA RCT (CLASS) comparing endovenous techniques against open surgery and had received approx. 2.0million pounds of Grant Funding.

Mr Bachoo's personal development has included research as a CSO Research Fellow in Health Service Research Unit, UoA. In support of teaching and development, he can site the development of a range of professional roles as well as supervising a number of postgraduate thesis. Variously, he has been a member of a number of Societies. At present , Mr Bachoo has a senior role in NHSG in addition to a clinical function.

To date, Mr Bachoo written over 50 publications, presented at a range of national & international congresses and secured (with others) scientific grants to the value of £1.76M.
