Personal Profile

Dr Paul Broadhurst graduated from the University of Dundee in 1983. He began his medical training in internal medicine across hospitals in Tayside and later worked as a Research Fellow in Cardiology at Northwick Park Hospital from 1987 to 1990.

From 1990 to 1997, he continued his training as a Registrar and then Senior Registrar at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London.

In 1997, Dr Broadhurst was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Borders General Hospital and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. In 2002, he moved to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he continues to work as a Consultant Cardiologist and also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.

Dr Broadhurst played a key role in developing a modern arrhythmia (heart rhythm) service for the North of Scotland and helped establish the Familial Arrhythmia Network of Scotland.

With over 25 years of experience as a Consultant, Dr Broadhurst is a highly respected and experienced Cardiologist. While he practices general cardiology and takes part in the on-call rota, he is especially known across the UK for his expertise in heart rhythm disorders. His research is widely published, with over 100 scientific publications to his name.
