Personal Profile

Dr Paul Broadhurst qualified in 1983 from the University of Dundee. He trained in internal medicine in various hospitals in Tayside and has been a research Fellow in Cardiology at Northwick Park Hospital from 1987-1990. Thereafter he became Registrar and Senior Registrar at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London from 1990-97.

He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Borders General Hospital/Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in 1997-2002, before taking up his current post as Consultant Cardiologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. He was instrumental in developing a modern Arrhythmia Service in the North of Scotland along with the Familial Arrhythmia Network of Scotland.

Dr Broadhurst is a very experienced Cardiologist with 25 years at Consultant level. Although fully trained & practicing as a general cardiologist (participating in the on-call rota), he is a nationally recognised expert in rhythm disturbances of the heart. His work is widely published with over 100 publications.
