About Dr Pallavi Latthe

Personal Profile

Dr Pallavi Latthe is the only accredited subspecialist in Urogynaecology in Birmingham and is a Consultant at the Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. She leads the urogynaecology and the Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology service there. In addition, Dr Latthe provides high quality services related to general gynaecological problems including menstrual dysfunction, contraception, menopause and pelvic pain.

Pallavi did her clinical research fellowship at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital and University of Birmingham. Her research MD thesis (University of Birmingham) was into chronic pelvic pain. She coordinated the Well-Being of Women-sponsored Laparoscopic Uterosacral Nerve Ablation.

She trained in the UK and India, with travelling fellowships to the Cleveland Clinic, Florida and Nijmegen, Netherlands. She has published many scientific papers and written two books. She has presented her research both at national and international conferences. She is on the children’s committee of the International Continence Society and the research and development committee of International Urogynaecology Association. She is also the secretary of British society of paediatric adolescent gynaecology.
 
Dr Latthe has extensive experience in conservative and surgical management of prolapse and urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, pelvic pain including bladder pain and leads the tertiary urogynaecology service for West Midlands. She also specialises in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology. Dr Latthe is a trainer for subspecialty programme in urogynaecology and also teaches medical students, allied health professionals and general practitioners. She is a research active clinician and has written over 80 papers in scientific journals and also authored 2 books. Dr Latthe is honorary Reader in the Institute of Systems and Metabolic Research at University of Birmingham.
