Mr Phaltankar qualified from the University of Bombay, India in 1992. He undertook undergraduate and postgraduate Orthopaedic training at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Bombay. In the UK, he has trained at St. George's Hospital, London as well as other hospitals in Surrey and West Sussex. He gained extensive training in all aspects of sports knee surgery and knee replacement during knee fellowships in Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Mr Phaltankar has been working as a specialist hip and knee surgeon in Greater Manchester area since 2005. He undertakes a large number of surgical procedures related to the hip and knee, such as hip and knee replacements.
Mr Phaltankar undertakes total as well as partial knee replacements. His surgical practice includes arthroscopic or keyhole knee surgery including arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
Mr Phaltankar performs hip injections and total hip replacements for arthritic hips.
Mr Phaltankar has published research articles relating to various aspects of ACL reconstruction and knee cartilage surgery.
Mr Phaltankar is a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK)
Mr Phaltankar also uses The VELYS™ surgical system. This is an innovative robotic tool that aids the consultant during the knee replacement surgery, allowing for greater accuracy and precision that isn’t possible with traditional knee replacement techniques.
Mr Phaltankar has a keen interest in cricket and enjoys swimming.
