About Nitin Gupta

Personal Profile

Nitin Gupta is an ophthalmic surgeon based at Eye Treatment Centre West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Gupta undertook post graduate training in Ophthalmology from S.M Medical College, Agra, India. Following a year of senior residency, he gained extensive surgical and clinical experience working at a tertiary level hospital in India. He has worked in remote rural areas of India which provided him with invaluable experience and insight in Primary care in Ophthalmology. He moved to Oman which provided him with a unique exposure to a different culture and environment.

He gained a Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and moved to the United Kingdom in 2000. Over the last decade he has worked at senior level at West Suffolk Hospital. Mr Gupta has trained as a Fellow in Medical Retinal Vascular disease at West Suffolk Hospital. He has special interest in management of uveitis and has expertise in both local and systemic treatment of ocular inflammatory disease. As an expert in cataract surgery Mr Gupta has an excellent insight into management if complex cataract surgery in patients with other ocular comorbidities.

Mr Gupta is a clinical teacher at Cambridge University, he also teaches MSc Ophthalmology UCL, London. He is actively involved in teaching at University Hospitals in India and maintains teaching and training links with ophthalmologists in China in collaboration with Lifeline Express China.

He can converse in Hindi, Urdu and Arabic language.
