About Professor Nick J London
Personal Profile
Professor N. London is a Consultant Knee Surgeon at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate, specialising in all aspects of knee surgery, from chronic overuse conditions to acute sports injuries. With extensive experience in knee replacement surgery, he has performed more than 10,000 knee replacements and is recognised for his expertise in partial knee replacement procedures.
Professor London graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1989 before returning to his native Leeds to begin his surgical training. He subsequently completed two years of surgical research, earning a higher MD degree, before undertaking a six-year orthopaedic training programme in Yorkshire. His specialist training was further enhanced by a one-year knee surgery fellowship at a leading clinic in Australia.
In 2000, Professor London was appointed Consultant in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at Harrogate District Hospital. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of minimally invasive and patient-specific techniques for knee replacement surgery. He regularly welcomes visiting consultants who wish to learn more about these advanced surgical approaches.
Professor London established a knee fellowship programme in 2003, providing senior trainees with opportunities to develop their expertise in knee surgery and participate in research. Areas of study have included anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and minimally invasive knee replacement techniques.
He remains actively involved in research and the development of new surgical techniques and implants. His work has included the evaluation of innovative treatments for medial knee arthritis, such as the KineSpring Load Absorber, and patient-specific partial knee replacement procedures.
