Personal Profile

Ngwe Phyo is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery. He completed his training in 2020 and was subsequently appointed Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. Prior to this, he served as a locum consultant orthopaedic surgeon at King’s College Hospital in London.

Ngwe is a core member of the Diabetic Foot Multidisciplinary Team at Frimley Park Hospital, providing expert care to patients with complex diabetic foot conditions. He has a particular interest in diabetic foot disease and performs complex diabetic foot reconstruction surgeries at Frimley Park Hospital. He also serves as the Clinical Governance Lead for the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics.

Ngwe runs a busy NHS and private practice, offering a full spectrum of foot and ankle surgery. He is dedicated to providing tailored, individual care through bespoke treatment plans, underpinned by his expertise in foot and ankle surgery.

He obtained his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine (1), Yangon, Myanmar in 2002. After completing basic surgical training in Truro, Cornwall, he undertook higher specialist orthopaedic training in the Frimley Park Hospital. He received fellowship training in foot & ankle at Heatherwood Hospital (Ascot)and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) and complex trauma and diabetic foot reconstruction surgery King’s College Hospital (London).

Ngwe has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the fields of foot & ankle and diabetic foot surgery. He has delivered lectures nationally and internationally on foot & ankle and trauma-related topics. He is a member of both the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA). Ngwe has travelled internationally to engage with leading foot and ankle surgeons, broadening his expertise and exchanging knowledge. 

Outside of work, Ngwe is married to Kyi, an emergency physician, and they have a teenage daughter.
