About Nasir Quraishi

Personal Profile

Professor Nasir Quraishi is a dedicated, highly-skilled Consultant Spinal Surgeon based in Nottingham since 2009. He trained in centres of surgical excellence in the UK and North America, including five years as a higher Surgical Trainee in Cambridge/East Anglia.  He also completed specialist training in both spinal orthopaedic and spinal neurosurgery. In Nottingham, he is the past Head of Service at The Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery (CSSS) based at the Queen’s Medical Centre (Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust), which is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. He is an Honorary Professor (professional position held at Nottingham Trent University) and the Head of Spinal Research.

Professor Quraishi is committed to patient safety and aims to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. He specialises in the whole spectrum of spinal problems, including the more complex cases (deformity/scoliosis, trauma and infection and revision surgery).  Some of the more familiar presentations seen are patients suffering with neuropathic symptoms, such as tingling, numbness, electric shock-type pain, radiating to the arms/legs. 

He is also a committed academic, an award winning international presenter and author of numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. He completed a Master of Laws (LLM), and wrote a PhD thesis on ‘Outcome & Health Related Quality of Life Following Surgery in Spinal Cancers’ published in 2019.

In 2025, he was awarded an Executive MBA in Healthcare with Distinction from the University of Nottingham.
