About Najum Qureshi

Personal Profile

Mr Najum Qureshi is a dedicated consultant gynaecologist with specialist interests in cervical screening, colposcopy, lower genital tract pre-malignancy (including perianal and anal disease), vulval disorders, menstrual problems, menopause, Hormone-replacement therapy, pelvic pain and post-menopausal bleeding. He takes a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and works as a team with other health professionals in order to treat conditions effectively.


Mr Qureshi is on the specialist medical register of General Medical Council from 2006 and was granted FRCOG in 2010. He obtained primary medical qualification from Pakistan and came to work in the UK in 1993. He gained MRCOG in 1994. He is working as a consultant Gynaecologist at the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s hospital from 2009. Being a core member of Gynae-Oncology unit, he deputises the service. He holds accreditation by British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Cytology/Pathology Society and also has worked as Colposcopy lead at the Birmingham Women's hospital.

Mr Qureshi did a long sabbatical working at a specialist cancer centre in Pakistan and gained valuable operative experience. He has a special interest in the management of benign and gynae-related cancers.  Mr Qureshi has several years of experience operating on complex gynaecology patients with excellent results.

His other areas of interest are:

HRT

Mr Qureshi is actively involved in the teaching and training of doctors and has achieved a master’s degree in Clinical Education. He was also lead for postgraduate education at the Birmingham Women’s hospital from 2010 – 2017.
