Mr Mohamed Abdel-Aty qualified from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1979.

Mr Abdel-Aty completed his Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology In west Midland.

Mr Abdel-Aty then took up the post of Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician in Worcester Acute Hospitals Trust before moving to the North West to join the Consultant Gynaecologist team in East Lancashire.

Mr Abdel-Aty is leading consultant In Laparoscopic (Keyhole surgery) Gynaecology. He introduced Laparoscopic Hysterectomy at East Lancashire Hospitals in 2011.

Mr Abdel-Aty has advanced training in laparoscopic surgery and he also conducts courses for Registrars on basic and advanced laparoscopy.

Mr Abdel-Aty is the leader of the team who achieve status Accreditation for Endometriosis centre at East Lancashire Hospitals.

He is also Chair of Gynaecology at NSSG for south Cumbria and Lancashire and a trainer of ATSM benign Gynaecology surgery. Senior consultant of Gynaecology East Lancashire women’s and Neo born centre Burnley.

He was awarded the Endometriosis Primrose award in 2018.

His clinical interests are: Hysterectomy surgery, Cervical smears Colposcopy, Endometrial ablation surgery, Hysteroscopy procedure, Laparoscopy investigation and treatment, Ovarian cyst removal, Reversal of female sterilisation

Gynaecology: menopause, sexual dysfunction, sexual health, post-menopausal problems, menstrual disorders, menopause, and endometriosis
