About Mirza Khurrum Baig

Personal Profile

Mr Baig is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with a wealth of experience. He can see and treat patients at Goring Hall Hospital for hernia repair and other issues relating to the lower digestive system, colon and anal canal. Mr Baig is the Endoscopy clinical lead at Goring Hall Hospital and with his guidance the hospital has achieved JAG accreditation which means patients can benefit from the highest quality endoscopy service. Mr Baig sees patients from Worthing, Pulborough, Horsham, West Sussex and beyond. He can see patients for Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, and other commons surgical procedures such as hernia repair and gall bladder surgery. 

He trained in London South West Thames Region Surgical Training Programme.  Specialist Training in Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Florida, USA.  Appointed Consultant in Worthing in 2003.  Surgical tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons, 2005.

Mr Baig is the Surgical Endoscopy Lead at Worthing Hospital. He is also a member of the National Cancer Peer Review Team (since 2005) and is also a reviewer for British Journal of Surgery. He is also appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

Mr Baig has been instrumental in the development of Laparoscopic (keyhole) Colorectal Surgery at Worthing.  He has presented his results of surgery in both national and international meetings.  He has a special interest in hernia repair, colonoscopy, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease.

He is developing management of faecal incontinence including assessment with endonal ultrasound and anal sphincter repairs.
