About Mr Miguel Zilvetti

Personal Profile

Mr Miguel Zilvetti is an experienced Consultant Laparoscopic, General, and Colorectal Surgeon based within the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. He has extensive expertise in colorectal surgery, pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal cancer care.

He provides specialist assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of bowel and colorectal conditions, combining advanced surgical techniques with a multidisciplinary approach to care.

Mr Zilvetti qualified in medicine from the Universitat Central de Barcelona. Following his initial training, he developed a strong interest in colorectal surgery and advanced gastrointestinal care.

He undertook a period of research at the Transplant Centre in Oxford, focusing on liver perfusion for transplantation. This work provided him with valuable experience in complex surgical research and transplant-related techniques.

He later completed Higher Surgical Training within the Oxford Deanery, where he gained broad experience in colorectal surgery, including the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and pelvic floor disorders.

To further develop his expertise in pelvic floor disorders, Mr Zilvetti completed a dedicated fellowship at The Royal London Hospital.

During this fellowship, he gained advanced experience in the management of complex pelvic floor conditions, including neuromodulation techniques and the treatment of functional bowel disorders. He also developed specialist skills in managing obstructive defecation symptoms and faecal incontinence.

This training strengthened his ability to offer both surgical and non-surgical treatment options for patients with complex bowel dysfunction.

Since 2012, Mr Zilvetti has worked as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. During this time, he has played a key role in developing and expanding specialist services for patients with pelvic floor disorders.

He established a dedicated Pelvic Floor Service in Worcestershire, which includes specialist outpatient clinics, diagnostic investigations for bowel dysfunction, and coordinated multidisciplinary care.

This service works closely with urologists and gynaecologists to ensure patients receive comprehensive, joined-up care tailored to their individual needs.

Mr Zilvetti’s areas of specialist interest include laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, proctology, and pelvic floor disorders. He is experienced in managing both routine and complex conditions, offering evidence-based treatment options designed to improve symptoms and quality of life.

Mr Zilvetti is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care. He focuses on clear communication, accurate diagnosis, and tailored treatment plans to support patients throughout their care journey.
