About Michael Potter

Personal Profile

Dr. Michael Potter has over 20 years of experience in clinical haematology, having trained in general medicine for two and a half years in London and Swindon. He then completed a seven-year specialty training in Haematology across Bristol, Leeds, and Seattle, USA. Dr. Potter also earned a PhD, focusing on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, during his time in Bristol.

Since becoming a Haematology Consultant, Dr. Potter has worked in many hospitals, including the Royal Free Hospital in London and the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey and London. He has held several leadership roles, serving as the Head of Stem Cell Transplantation since 2003, the Head of the Haematology Department for three years, and as Associate Medical Director at the Royal Marsden until 2018.

In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Potter has worked as an Educational Supervisor for trainee haematologists and served as a National Examiner for FRCPath Haematology from 2000 to 2017. He is actively involved in clinical research in haematology and oncology, with more than 160 publications to his name.

Currently, Dr. Potter's primary focus is on providing clinical care for patients with a variety of haematological conditions, including treatment with chemotherapy, biological agents and stem cell transplantation.
He is very experienced in the investigation of new patients with clinical or laboratory haematological abnormalities.
 
Dr Potter can offer extensive expertise in general haematology and haemotology-oncology and offers treatment in patients with lymphomas, leukaemias, myeloma, myelodysplasia and myeloproliferative conditions. Increasingly this includes this use of non chemotherapy approaches e.g. antibodies and other targeted biological agents. He maintains a friendly and positive attitude based on his firsthand experience of seeing huge advances in treatments and outcomes for most blood disorders over the past 20 years.
