About Dr Mauro Lencioni

Personal Profile

Dr Mauro Lencioni is a consultant cardiologist specialising in arrhythmias and electrophysiology in Birmingham.  He practices at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust (Queen Elizabeth Hospital) and at the Priory Hospital in Birmingham.  His area of expertise is in the assessment and management of palpitations including electrophysiology studies and cardiac ablation of abnormal heart rhythms.

He undertook his medical schooling and early career in South Africa.  His qualification and training as a physician and then training as a cardiologist was completed in the United Kingdom, mostly in the West Midlands.  He has also trained in Manchester and Denmark, the latter being a fellowship before being appointed as a consultant in Birmingham.

  • Investigation and treatment of heart rhythm abnormalities causing palpitations such as atrial fibrillation, supra-ventricular tachycardia.
  • Treatment includes the use of medication and ablation procedures
