Dr Masood Ashraf is a consultant physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and the clinical lead for Obesity Management, Research, Formulary and Diabetic Foot Service. He is RCP (Royal College of Physician), College Tutor for Internal Medicine trainees at Health Education Thames Valley (Oxford deanery). He has also previously worked as Locum consultant at Luton and Dunstable university Hospital.
Dr Ashraf has trained in Endocrinology and Diabetes in Oxford deanery and has clinical interests in Obesity management, Endocrinology include Thyroid, Calcium/Bone metabolism, Adrenal, and Reproductive Endocrinology. He has worked as an honorary consultant in the department of Obesity Medicine at Luton and Dunstable University hospital.
His interests in Diabetes include management of both T1DM, T2DM and cardio-metabolic risk management and use of technology for Diabetes management. He has published several papers and presented at various professional platforms.
Dr Ashraf currently runs general endocrine clinics reviewing patients with Thyroid, Adrenal, Pituitary, Calcium/Bone related disorders, and Reproductive endocrine problems. He runs Type 1 diabetes clinic, YPC (Young Person’s T1DM Clinic), Insulin Pump Clinic and Diabetic Foot Clinic. He also runs the antenatal clinic for pre-existing diabetes or pregnancy induced diabetes, and endocrine problems in pregnancy. He is also a Consultant in General internal medicine and participates in managing Endocrinology ward patients at Stoke Mandeville Hospital as per rota.
Dr Ashraf has been actively involved in writing and updating various clinical guidelines for endocrinology and diabetes. He is also actively involved in setting up an Obesity service across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire (BOB) Integrated Care Board.
Dr Ashraf has a deep interest in medical education and has been involved in teaching Oxford University medical students, as well as students at the University of Buckingham Medical School (UBMS). He is a Professional Mentor for UBMS students and has been actively involved in teaching trainees, and allied healthcare professionals, and is currently an RCP College Tutor for internal medicine trainees. He is also clinical and educational supervisor for trainees at various levels in training.
