He graduated in Medicine from the University of Edinburgh and completed his registrar training in the Manchester region. He then undertook 18 months of advanced fellowship training in North America, including a 12-month Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Sports Medicine Clinic of Nova Scotia in Halifax and a further six-month fellowship at the Holland Orthopaedic and Arthritic Centre in Toronto. Professor Snow is also an academic leader in orthopaedic research. He is Professor of Regenerative Medicine at Keele University and Honorary Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. He supervises PhD research focused on stem cell therapies for cartilage repair, tendon regeneration, and biological markers of joint injury. His research funding exceeds £3 million, and he is a member of the exclusive ACL Study Group and Magellan Society.

In 2006, he completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University and has since designed a widely used fixation device for ACL reconstruction adopted internationally.
