Dr Mark Noble is a Consultant in Clinical Oncology, specialising in the delivery of radiotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapies for patients diagnosed with lung, brain, and skin cancers. His background is unique in that he initially trained and qualified as a General Practitioner (GP) before pursuing a career in oncology. This dual training has equipped him with a broad and deep understanding of general medical conditions, allowing him to take a more holistic and integrated approach to cancer care.
Dr Noble is passionate about delivering innovative cancer treatments. He is skilled in advanced radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR), which allows for highly precise targeting of tumours while minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissue for patients with lung cancer. He also has access to state-of-the-art technologies such as MR Linac, which combines MRI imaging with linear accelerator radiotherapy to improve accuracy and outcomes. In addition to radiotherapy, Dr Noble oversees the administration of innovative systemic therapies, including immunotherapy and targeted treatments, ensuring that patients benefit from the latest advances in oncology.
For patients with skin cancer, Dr Noble offers radiotherapy treatments using either superficial x-rays or electron beam therapy, depending on the size, depth, and location of the lesion. These treatments are typically delivered at Poole Hospital, and the most appropriate approach is discussed in detail during the initial consultation to ensure patients are fully informed and involved in their care decisions.
Beyond his clinical duties, Dr Noble plays a key leadership role in medical education and research. He is the Clinical Lead for the training of Clinical Oncology registrars at University Hospitals Dorset, where he is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of oncologists. He is also actively involved in clinical research and serves as the lead for several ongoing clinical trials. His research interests focus on improving treatment outcomes and developing the understanding of novel oncological therapies.
