Personal Profile

Mr Mark Lynch is a highly regarded and experienced full time Consultant Urological Surgeon at Croydon University Hospital (CUH) and St George’s Hospital, London.

Mr Lynch continues to be Clinical Lead for Urology, having started in 2013 and was previously the Chair of the Cancer MDT at CUH. He is also a Consultant in the Endourology Unit at St George’s Hospital, London undertaking complex surgery for kidney stones and obstructed or blocked kidneys. 

Mr Lynch has also been a Council Member on the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) from 2019-2024. He was the Lead Regional Representative, representing all the 16 Regions of the UK to the Council and he was a Trustee of BAUS from 2022-2024. As part of his leadership roles Mr Lynch has been involved with the Leadership Programme for Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK).

Training 

Mr Lynch read Biochemistry at Imperial College London and became an Associate of the Royal College of Science before reading Medicine at St George’s Hospital, University of London, qualifying as a doctor in 2000. After gaining a Masters in Urology in 2006 from the University of London, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2010.

His postgraduate training in surgery and urology took place in the very competitive London Deanery including the internationally renowned institutions of St George’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London. Mr Lynch has developed skills in complex stone surgery and minimally invasive surgery as well as bipolar and laser techniques for the management of prostate symptoms. He has also developed skills in the diagnosis of Prostate Cancer using MRI Fusion technology to accurately identify and target small lesions within prostates.

Education

Mr Lynch has always been involved in training the next generation of surgeons. He is an Educational Supervisor for senior trainee surgeons in urology and actively teaches medical students on clinical attachments from Kings College and St Georges Hospitals. Mr Lynch has taught on training courses for senior trainee surgeons from around the UK and he provides GP educational talks and visits on Urological topics.

Urological Practice

Mr Lynch prides himself on providing the highest level of care for his patients. He offers comprehensive urological advice, investigation and management for disorders of the kidney, bladder, prostate, urethra and genitalia. This includes the assessment of prostatic symptoms and the diagnosis of Prostate Cancer, the investigation of blood in the urine and bladder cancer and the investigation and treatment of kidney stones including laser lithotripsy. Mr Lynch also specialises in treating testicular disorders including tumours, cysts and pain along with disorders of the penis such as tight foreskin. He also investigates and manages recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Mr Lynch is a member of the South West London Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) network that includes the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust ensuring all patients with a diagnosis of cancer obtain the very best opinion for their treatment and management at all times.

Research

Mr Lynch has authored, presented and published approximately 40 international papers and received awards for academic work from the European Association of Urology, The British Association of Urological Surgeons, The Royal Society of Medicine and Glaxo Wellcome.

Personal Life

Outside of work, Mr Lynch enjoys spending time with his young family and watching his 3 children playing sports fixtures at the weekend and walking the family Labrador. During the week he keeps fit and active by swimming in the morning before work.
