About Maria Dow

Personal Profile

Mrs Dow has 25 years' experience gained across NHS, academic, and private sectors. She gained experience gained in the acute sector in a major teaching hospital in Manchester covering adult medical and surgical wards. This was followed by experience gained in a rural community sector covering general hospitals and clinics.

Maria has held several research posts investigating effectiveness of weight management interventions. The past five years has been in the private sector carrying out general clinics, consultancy work with cancer and trauma charities as well as workplace activities. 

Maria is also involved in training healthcare professionals with Counterweight Limited in weight management delivery.  Her current NHS work in Elgin involves IBS clinics using the low FODMAPS plan. She attained a certificate in counselling skills from Aberdeen University to ensure client centred approach in consultations. Maria is a published author in peer reviewed scientific and trade journals on the topic of weight management.
