Background

Having trained in the North-West of England, Professor Maneesh Singh was the chair of the trainees and completed advanced training in benign abdominal, vaginal and minimal access surgery. During his training he completed an MD on endometrial cancer and endometriosis. After completing his training, he moved to the Gold Coast, Australia where he became a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Bond University. In 2013 he became one of the first robotic surgeons in Australia, using this modality for hysterectomy and complex endometriosis surgery. Employed by the Australian Border Force, he reviewed services and retrieved refugees in Nauru to Australia. 

Special Interests

His main interests encompass all aspects of gynaecology especially endometriosis, hysterectomy, ovarian cysts, vaginal surgery and hysteroscopy. As a highly experienced minimal access surgeon he aims to reduce morbidity with surgical procedures. 

Teaching and Training

As a member of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine he has taught medical and midwifery staff in Somalia and Malaysia. His textbook published in 2008 and was one of the top-sellers in the RCOG. Now with his NHS practice in Chesterfield Royal, he is developing the benign complex gynaecology and endometriosis service. Currently, he performs over 400 endometriosis cases per year and treats stages 1-4. He has developed the first screening test for ovarian cancer and endometriosis from urine with high sensitivity and specificity that is undergoing evaluation for screening both in the UK and globally. 

Research and Publications

Driven by a need for early diagnosis, he publishes regularly in high impact journals including Nature. His research is based in rapid point-of-care diagnostics using sensor-based technology coupled with cloud-based software. Mr Singh is proficient in software programming and writes bespoke algorithms.
