About Mr Mandeep Singh Bindra

Personal Profile

Mr Bindra is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with over 18 years of experience. He specialises in all retinal and vitreoretinal conditions as well as in cataract surgery including complex cases or cases requiring special lenses.

He qualified in medicine with honours from King’s College, University of London and underwent specialist ophthalmology training in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

He joined the ophthalmology dept at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) as a consultant in 2013 and works at Stoke Mandeville and Amersham Hospitals.

He established the specialist wet Age-related Macular Degeneration clinic in Amersham Hospital which has since won a number of accolades.

He is the joint lead for the macular, retinal and Vitreoretinal service at BHT

Mr Bindra has been the ophthalmology research lead for the department at BHT since 2014 and has also been the Associate Medical Director for Research and Innovation for the Trust since 2018.

Mr Bindra is also passionate about training and has shared his expertise nationally and internationally.

He has mentored ophthalmologists in the UK and overseas and has also trained specialist retinal and vitreo-retinal surgeons as part of the fellowship program at BHT.

Mr Bindra has also regularly been commissioned to provide medicolegal expertise and is an external clinical advisor to the Parliamentary Health Services Ombudsman

Mr Bindra is regularly praised for his personal and informal bedside manner and has been praised for his caring approach and ability to ensure patients understand often complex issues.

Mr Bindra sees patients who have symptoms such as blurry or reduced vision, distortion, floaters, glare or difficulty with reading or driving vision amongst others.

  • Macular membranes, epiretinal membranes and macular pucker

Mr Bindra also performs retinal laser procedures and injections as well as surgery.
