Mr Bassuni currently serves as a General, Laparoscopic, and Colorectal Surgical Consultant. He embarked on his NHS career as a Colorectal Surgeon Consultant at Rotherham Hospital in 2000, following his extensive training at various renowned institutions, including the University Hospital of Wales, Strasbourg (France), University of Purojia (Italy), Alexandria University (Egypt), and King Abdul Aziz University (KSA).
With over 50 publications and presentations featured in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences within the realms of general and colorectal surgery, Mr Bassuni has consistently contributed to the field’s advancement.
His leadership prowess extends both within the United Kingdom and internationally, particularly in the Middle East, where he has been instrumental in establishing comprehensive Colorectal Services. Notably, he recently chaired the surgical division of a prominent Teaching Hospital in Dubai, Emirates.
Mr Bassuni is a trailblazer in the development of innovative surgical techniques for addressing functional bowel and pelvic floor disorders, many of which have been published under his name. He has also spearheaded the implementation of novel services in the UK, including an accredited unit dedicated to treating severe and advanced endometriosis and pelvic floor disorders units in North Trent.
Additionally, he has taken on the role of chairing a substantial network of Colorectal Cancer centres in Northern England, where he leads a sizeable team within the Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
His expertise has earned him the status of an invited visiting professor of colorectal surgery at Mansoura University, Egypt, and the Military Medical Academy of Egypt.

Special interest in minimally invasive surgery for advanced and complex anal fistula/ haemorrhoids and anal fissure, using up to date technology like VAAFT and IPSIT.
