Ms Pelosini qualified from Pisa University Medical School with Honours in 1999. She completed the postgraduate ophthalmology training in the London South Thames Training Programme working in several leading hospitals including King’s College Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital. She completed a Research Fellowship in Medical Retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital and obtained an MD Research degree at the University of London in 2011. She completed her subspecialty training with a Fellowship in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery at the Western Eye Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London.
Ms Pelosini was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at East Surrey Hospital in 2013 where she was the Lead Clinician and Audit Lead from 2014 to 2018. She was appointed at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2018 and she is leading the Cornea, Anterior Segment and Emergency Eye Service at Queen Mary’s Hospital Sidcup.
Ms Pelosini is the author of over 20 peer review publications and book chapters. She is regularly invited to speak and moderate research sessions in national and international meetings. She is an invited reviewer for major international journals in her field.
Ms Pelosini has been an examiner for King’s College London Medical School and an international instructor for retinal imaging with optical coherence tomography. She has conducted and published innovative research in macular imaging and novel sub-threshold laser treatment for diabetes.
