Training
Mr Luca Ilari completed his formal training in Ophthalmology in 1995 at S.Anna University Hospital, Ferrara, Italy. This has been followed by a Research Fellowship at St.Thomas Hospital, London and two further Fellowships at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, specialising in cornea, external eye diseases and cataract/ refractive surgery.
He has authored peer-reviewed publications and has presented the results of his clinical research projects at national and international meetings. He has attended as a senior instructor in the surgical courses of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He has developed a particular expertise on external eye diseases and advanced/complex cataract surgery including microincision surgery, topical anaesthesia and treatment of presbyopia and astigmatism.
