About Dr Leena Das

Personal Profile

Dr Das has been a Consultant Rheumatologist at Pennine Acute NHS Trust since 2012 and in this role, looks after approximately 1000 patients each year with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

She has the expertise to treat general, specialist and complex diseases within the spectrum of rheumatological conditions. 

As the Principle Investigator for the department in which she works she is actively involved in recruitment for clinical trials. She also looks after inpatients at North Manchester General Hospital.

Dr Das firmly believes in the importance of clear, open communication with patients and sufferers of musculoskeletal conditions. She works closely alongside a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses and podiatrists.

She believes that timely diagnosis and focused and individualised treatment can help significantly to reduce pain and disability, and improve quality of life.

Dr Das completed her medical degree in India in 1999. She undertook further medical training at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, between 2002 and 2006. She trained in Rheumatology in Cambridge in 2007 and then in the North West from 2008 to 2012. At the same time she also did a Masters in Clinical Rheumatology from the University of Manchester, and was awarded with a degree in 2011.
