Dr Bakhshi is a highly experienced Consultant in Pain Medicine with over 30 years’ experience, offering private consultations at The Chiltern and Shelburne Hospitals. He specialises in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions, working closely with patients to improve comfort, function and quality of life.
He graduated in Medicine from Southampton University Medical School in 1983 and, after working in General and Emergency Medicine, completed specialist training in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. His training included posts at leading centres such as St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Hospitals, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital and the Eastman Dental Hospitals, where he developed expertise in managing complex pain conditions.
Dr Bakhshi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Pain Medicine. He was appointed Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 1996 (now part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust) and served as Clinical Lead for the Chronic Pain Service for 10 years, overseeing its expansion and modernisation.
He has a particular interest in interventional pain medicine and offers treatments including radiofrequency denervation, image-guided spinal injections and nerve blocks. He treats conditions such as sciatica, neck and back pain, neuropathic pain, peripheral nerve pain and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). He also works closely with the National Spinal Injuries Centre and collaborates with musculoskeletal and sports medicine specialists.
Dr Bakhshi understands the wide-ranging impact of long-term pain on daily life and prioritises timely access to care, particularly through private treatment pathways. He is known for his calm, supportive approach, taking time to listen and develop individualised treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. Working within a multidisciplinary network, his goal is not only to relieve pain but to help patients regain confidence, independence and control over their lives.
