He graduated (MBBS) from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences - AIIMS , New Delhi, India(1983-88), the Apex Medical Institute in the subcontinent. He completed his Residency in general surgery at the same institute (1989-92) and was awarded the degree of MS-Master of Surgery in General Surgery with his thesis on major trauma outcome (1992). This was followed by a Senior Residency in surgical oncology at the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, AIIMS (1992-95), the Apex Cancer Centre for the northern part of the Indian subcontinent .
In the UK he trained as Specialist Registrar in the South East Thames Surgical Rotation, London Deanery (1996-2002) with a CCST (GMC,UK)-Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in breast and general surgery (2002). This included training at the Hedley Atkins Breast Unit, Guy’s Hospital and the HPB Unit at King’s College Hospital.
His main interest is in the field of cancer especially breast cancer. He has presented on related subjects at various national and international scientific meetings. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. He remains committed to teaching & training of undergraduates from GKT medical school and postgraduates from the London Deanery.
