Personal Profile

Mr Kenneth Young graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1990, gaining FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995. From 1996 to 2002 he was appointed as Specialist Registrar in Orthopaedic Surgery in the West of Scotland Deanery, and completed orthopaedic training with a seven-month fellowship in lower limb joint replacement including revision joint replacement surgery at Princess Margaret Rose Orthopaedic Hospital, Edinburgh and the New Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Entry to the specialist register was in 2002.

He was appointed to the post of Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at University Hospital Ayr in June 2002 and became Clinical Director for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at University Hospital Ayr in 2014.

Mr Young’s expertise covers a broad spectrum of trauma & orthopaedic surgery however specialises in lower limb surgery, specifically hip and knee replacement including ceramic bearing technology in hip replacement and both total and partial knee replacement. Furthermore, Mr Young’s expertise covers arthroscopic knee surgery and surgery of the foot and ankle.

Mr Young practices privately at Carrick Glen Hospital in Ayrshire and Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow. His focus is on patient centeredness, allowing plenty of time for detailed evaluation of a condition and utilising meticulous surgical techniques to ensure an excellent surgical outcome.
