About Prof Kayvan Shokrollahi

Personal Profile

Professor Shokrollahi is an internationally renowned Plastic Surgeon who has written many of the key textbooks relevant to plastic surgery globally in areas such as lasers, burns, scarring and reconstructive surgery. He graduated from Bristol University with both a Bachelor of Science degree with first class honours in Cellular and Molecular Pathology and a degree in Medicine. He also gained Master degrees in Medical Engineering and in Medical Law.  

He was awarded the Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007 and is an Honorary Clinical Professor at  Liverpool University and leads the Regional Burn Centre in Merseyside catering for 6 million people. His work in reconstructive plastic surgery was featured in the print edition of National Geographic Magazine.

His innovative research and publications in the field of skin cancer treatments have resulting in pioneering treatments for skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma (BCC) that can avoid the need for surgery by using lasers and photodynamic therapy in combination, typically with superior cosmetic results. He treats a wide range of skin lesions and skin conditions with laser.

His extensive knowledge and experience underpinned by his textbook on laser scar management, he deals with  a variety of scars including those from trauma, previous surgery as well as complex scars including keloid and hypertrophic scars.

Outside of medicine he is an accomplished pianist-composer with his original music played on international radio, such as Classic FM with almost 1million streams of his music on Spotify under the pseudonym Shokolat.
