Katie trained at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School - now part of Imperial College London - where she was the McCowan Scholar.
After qualification in 2000 and completing her specialist training in 2004, Katie became a Partner at an inner-city London practice in 2005, one of the first from her year at medical school to do so. Katie has since worked as a GP in a number of NHS practices in London and across West Berkshire and East Wiltshire, serving a broad range of patient demographics both in person and virtually.
As patients’ needs have become ever more complex, and with the ever-increasing challenge to access high quality primary care through the NHS, Katie took the decision to establish a private practice working from The Ridgeway Hospital in Wroughton, part of the Circle Hospital Group.
Every patient’s clinical journey begins with a visit to their family doctor and Katie believes that General Practice is a speciality in its own right, complementing secondary and in-patient hospital care.
Patients should consider visiting a private GP for the same reason that they would consider visiting a specialist surgeon or physician: access to an experienced and knowledgeable specialist GP at a time that suits you.
As a private GP, Katie can offer patients longer, dedicated appointments to support their physical and mental health needs, helping patients to access expert medical care through a range of NHS and private specialists, including those at The Ridgeway Hospital and the wider Circle Hospital Group.
Katie’s practice focuses on four key areas: Time, Empathy, Experience and Availability.
The average NHS GP appointment is just over 7 minutes long. While this may be enough for a simple medical problem, as access to your dedicated GP becomes more difficult 7 minutes is rarely enough time to understand, diagnose and consider a complex set of inter-connected medical conditions.
As a private GP, Katie can work with you to fully understand the full range of physical and mental health challenges you are facing over a longer appointment before building a consultation and treatment plan.
Katie is particularly adept at working with patient advocates and a patient’s family to support consultations where a patient’s first language or their mental/physical frailty are a barrier to effective consultation.
With a thoughtful and sensitive bedside manner based on active listening and a deep focus on the patient’s individual needs, Katie’s empathic and considerate approach are at the heart of her practice. Well rounded, well qualified, personable and adaptable, Katie is as comfortable seeing patients in-person or virtually.
Katie trained at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, part of Imperial College and one of the world’s leading medical schools. Katie always wanted to qualify as a GP and since qualification she has worked with a diverse range of patient populations and demographics whilst completing a full range of specialist GP qualifications, including her membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Katie has extensive clinical and practical experience in holistic ‘whole person’ care, with a specific focus on women’s, men’s, children’s and mental health.
As an NHS GP, Katie has first-hand experience of the challenges in seeing any GP, and in particular your preferred GP. Working from The Ridgeway Hospital, Wiltshire Katie is able to offer excellent appointment availability with the majority of patients seen within 48 hours.
Outside of work, Dr Simpson enjoys listening to classical music, playing the cello and piano, family walks on the Wessex Downs and practicing yoga.
