About Dr Katie Duncan

Personal Profile

After graduating in 2007, Dr Duncan began her initial training in Edinburgh and Fife, successfully obtaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians. She qualified as a General Practitioner in 2012 and practiced in Edinburgh for one year before pursuing a career in dermatology.

In 2014, Dr Duncan joined the national dermatology training program in Aberdeen, where she worked within the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary dermatology department for nearly ten years. Her training included two years spent in Texas, where she participated in the dermatology resident training and teaching program at McGovern Medical School. She passed the Royal College of Physicians Dermatology Specialty Certificate Examination in 2023 and completed her formal dermatology training in early 2024. Dr Duncan is now registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) as a Consultant Dermatologist.

She currently holds a substantive Consultant Dermatologist and Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist position with NHS Highland.

Her clinical practice covers a broad range of conditions, including skin cancers and lesions, eczema, psoriasis, and acne. Her special interests include paediatric dermatology, general medical dermatology, and an emerging focus on contact allergy.

Dr Duncan is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through ongoing service development and the integration of the latest evidence into her practice. She regularly attends educational events such as conferences and courses and actively engages in local quality improvement initiatives to enhance dermatology services.

Passionate about evidence-based, patient-centred care, Dr Duncan strives to deliver the highest standard of dermatological services.
