About Ms Katie Baines

Personal Profile

Katie Baines is a highly experienced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 14 years’ experience. She graduated from Kings College London University in 2008 and spent the next 10 years working for the NHS in London. Katie’s work in London was mostly in the MSK field but she was able to achieve a wealth of valuable experience across a wide range of specialties in the early years.

Katie moved into the private sector in 2017 to work as a specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Winterbourne Hospital. She has more recently taken on a managerial role and now leads the Physiotherapy team at the Winterbourne alongside her clinical work.

Katie has completed many specialist post graduate courses including master’s modules in psychological therapies for pain management, injection therapy and acupuncture and she is now proficient in the use of shockwave therapy.

Katie has more recently attended specialist courses in relation to management of foot and ankle conditions which includes provision of orthotics. Katie is using new Footscan technology in clinic at the Winterbourne to assess gait and biomechanics. She is also using Footscan technology to design custom 3D printed Phits insoles to manage many different foot and ankle complaints.

Katie is passionate about optimising the health and wellbeing of her patients and getting the best results following an injury/surgery through an individually tailored Physiotherapy programme. She uses manual techniques as well as exercise therapy to get the best outcomes for her patients. Katie is confident in treating all musculoskeletal conditions but particularly enjoys the challenge of managing injuries of the shoulder and tendon problems.

Outside of work Katie enjoys a very active lifestyle. Her main hobby is playing football for a local women’s team.
