About Ms Kat Simms

Personal Profile

Kat is an experienced physiotherapist with a career spanning clinical, strategic, and educational roles across the NHS and higher education.

After qualifying from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2006, she worked in both hospital and outpatient settings before specialising in respiratory physiotherapy. She went on to become a clinical specialist and AHP team lead, supporting patients with complex long-term conditions, and was also appointed as Team Lead for Athletics at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Kat is an experienced lecturer in physiotherapy, having taught cardiorespiratory care, physical activity, and lifestyle management. Following the birth of her daughter, she developed a specialist interest in pelvic health. She now supports both men and women with a wide range of pelvic health concerns, including post-hysterectomy care, urinary incontinence (urge and stress), prolapse, pelvic pain, and pre- and post-prostatectomy rehabilitation. Alongside this, she continues to work with people living with respiratory conditions, offering support with breathing pattern disorders, sputum clearance, reduced exercise tolerance, long-term condition management, and pacing strategies.

Outside of work, Kat enjoys running, cold-water swimming, and family time.
