Having received post-graduate training in General Medicine and Gastroenterology from the Newcastle and Mersey regions, Dr Padmakumar is experienced in all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology and endoscopy.
Dr Padmakumar has been working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist since 1997. He deals with patients suffering from a wide range of disorders like inflammatory bowel disease, peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease and hepatobiliary-pancreatic diseases. He has a particular interest in NASH and viral hepatitis.
Dr Padmakumar is an expert colonoscopist and is nationally-accreditated to undertake colonoscopy for those who are referred though the national bowel cancer screening programme. He also undertakes highly specialised therapeutic procedures like EMR, dilatation of strictures and banding. His caecal intubation rate has always been over 95%.
