Dr Owen deals with all aspects of respiratory medicine including asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, cough, interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, undiagnosed breathlessness, pulmonary embolism, bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, medical thoracoscopy, bedside thoracic ultrasound, pleural procedures and lung cancer diagnosis.
Dr Jonathan Owen is a Consultant Respiratory Physician working in both the NHS and private sector. He qualified in the year 2000 from The University of Liverpool, then after extensive general medical experience as an SHO, entered specialist respiratory registrar training in the Wessex Deanery. Alongside comprehensive training in all aspects of respiratory and general medicine, he undertook a clinical research project studying severe asthma exacerbation and was awarded an MD for this work from the university of Portsmouth.
Dr Owen was appointed as a Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in 2014 at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His NHS base is at RHCH Winchester providing inpatient respiratory and general medicine services, outpatient respiratory services, and satellite clinics in Andover. Post-CCT he has developed his procedure skills providing medical thoracoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound services.
He has subspecialty interests in asthma, pleural disease and respiratory procedures.
