About Jon Swan

Personal Profile

Jon qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2001. After completing his junior rotations Jon travelled to New Zealand where he worked in a sports injuries clinic. After returning to the UK, Jon completed senior rotations in musculoskeletal physiotherapy at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Trust. Following this, Jon became Therapy Lead for the busy orthopaedic department at the Trust and helped to establish The Derwent Orthopaedic Unit.

Jon has worked at The Harbour Hospital since 2005 initially as a clinician and now as Clinical Services Manager. It is important to Jon that he has continued to treat a clinical caseload, working with patients both on the wards and also in the out-patient physiotherapy department.

Jon has a specialist interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy including orthopaedic rehabilitation from surgery, brace fitting and sports injuries.

Jon’s management role involves him reviewing the latest research and equipment and ensuring the Harbour Physio’ department provides a high level of excellence in rehabilitation, aiming to get patients back to doing what they enjoy most as quickly as possible.

In his spare time Jon enjoys spending time with his family, keeping active on his bike and watching a variety of sports.
