Dr Gordon qualified from the Royal Free Hospital, London in 1993 and undertook his early postgraduate training at The Royal Free, London, the Royal United Hospital, Bath, and in Australia before joining the Wessex Gastroenterology SpR Training Scheme. He was awarded a DM by the University of Southampton in 2006 for research looking at novel therapeutic targets in Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and has published extensively in the field of inflammatory bowel disease and coeliac disease.

He was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester in 2008 where he is the clinical lead for inflammatory bowel disease services. His particular interests are luminal gastroenterology including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and GI cancer along with interventional endoscopy and ERCP.
