Personal Profile

Mr John Potter is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust for over 20 years. He was appointed in 2003 and has developed the laparoscopic renal surgery service at Northampton for the treatment of kidney cancer.

He provides consultations for general urology, including urological cancers, lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostatic hypertrophy and renal stone disease.

His pre-clinical medical degree was from Cambridge University, followed by his medical degree from Oxford University. He trained on the North London Urological specialist registrar rotation, including working at the Royal Free Hospital, the Hammersmith Hospital and completed his training at University College Hospital, London.

Mr Potter has published peer reviewed papers in the British Journal of Urology International and has presented papers at international urological conferences. 

Mr Potter has been offering a urological private practice at Three Shires Hospital since 2005. Consultations are offered on Thursday mornings.

Mr Potter consults on all aspects of general adult urology and inguino-scrotal surgery.  He has a particular interest in laparoscopic renal surgery.
