Dr. Joey Lai-Cheong is a consultant adult and paediatric dermatologist and consults on all aspects of general and paediatric dermatology and has expertise in skin cancer diagnosis and management, mole checks and mole removal, medical dermatology including eczema, psoriasis and acne as well as dermatological surgery. He also treats patients with excessive sweating with treatment injections.

He graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne Medical School with the Goyder Memorial commendation in Medicine and Surgery. He also holds an intercalated First Class Honours degree in Genetics and ranked top of his research year.

Dr. Joey Lai-Cheong is one of a handful of UK dermatologists who have been awarded the prestigious and highly competitive Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellowship. He also holds a PhD in Skin Sciences from the University of London and was the first National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Lecturer in Dermatology in London.

Dr. Joey Lai-Cheong trained in Dermatology at the world-renowned St John's Institute of Dermatology based at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has had further training in Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology at the Chicago Children’s Memorial Hospital in the United States.

Dr. Lai-Cheong has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in high impact international journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Journal of Human Genetics. He is also the co-author of the Skin Anatomy chapter in the past 2 editions of the Gray’s Anatomy textbook.
